3.2. Conflicts of Interest: Editors and reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest that could affect their judgment during the review process. They should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in cases where such conflicts exist.
3.3. Confidentiality: The editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher.
3.4. Decision on the Publication of Articles: The Editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The Editor may be guided by the policies of the journal and subjected to such legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The Editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
-
Reviewers' Responsibilities
4.1. Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. The content and findings of the manuscript should not be shared or discussed with others except with the journal's editorial team.
4.2. Timeliness and Constructive Feedback: Reviewers should provide timely and constructive feedback to authors. Personal criticism or any form of disrespectful language is unacceptable.
4.3. Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
-
Handling Complaints and Appeals
IJAET is committed to addressing complaints and appeals in a fair and timely manner. Authors, reviewers, or readers who have concerns about a published article or the peer review process should contact the editorial office. 1. Introduction
The International Journal of Architectural Engineering Technology (IJAET) recognizes the transformative potential of Generative AI (GenAI) tools in research, writing, and publishing. As these technologies evolve, it is imperative to ensure their ethical, transparent, and responsible use throughout the academic publishing process. This policy outlines the journal's position on the use of GenAI in manuscript preparation, peer review, and editorial practices.
2. Definition
For the purpose of this policy, Generative AI (GenAI) refers to AI models or tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard, DALL·E, Midjourney) capable of producing text, images, data, or code based on user prompts.
3. Use of GenAI in Manuscript Preparation
Authors may use GenAI tools for assistance in tasks such as language refinement, grammar correction, data visualization, and image generation, provided that:
- The intellectual content (hypotheses, methodology, analysis, conclusions) is the result of human authorship.
- GenAI is not listed as an author.
- All use of GenAI tools is clearly disclosed in the manuscript under a dedicated section (e.g., “Acknowledgment” or “Author Contributions”).
Example Disclosure:
"The authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI, 2025 version) for language editing of the introduction and for refining the abstract. All scientific content was developed and verified by the authors."
Prohibited Uses:
- Submitting entirely AI-generated manuscripts or figures without human authorship or oversight.
- Using GenAI to fabricate data, references, or research findings.
- Using AI to bypass peer review or submission checks.
4. Use of GenAI in Peer Review
Reviewers must not use GenAI tools to generate, summarize, or evaluate confidential manuscript content unless explicitly allowed by the editorial office and in a way that maintains strict confidentiality.
-
Reviewers must not input unpublished manuscript content into AI tools hosted by third parties (e.g., cloud-based LLMs).
-
Any AI-assisted tool used in the review process must be disclosed to the editor.
5. Editorial Use of GenAI
Editorial staff may use GenAI tools for routine tasks such as:
- Formatting suggestions,
- Generating cover letter templates,
- Language polishing of editorial communications.
However, decisions on manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection are made solely by qualified human editors, not by AI.
6. Accountability and Integrity
Authors, reviewers, and editors are responsible for ensuring that any use of GenAI adheres to academic integrity standards. Misuse of GenAI tools (e.g., plagiarism, fabrication, or failure to disclose AI use) will be treated as a breach of ethical guidelines and may result in rejection, retraction, or other disciplinary actions.
7. Policy Updates
As GenAI technologies and publishing standards evolve, this policy will be reviewed periodically and updated accordingly to ensure alignment with global best practices.
