In the present study, experiments on the system of 2, 2, 4-trimethylpentane–MgSO<sub>4</sub>–H<sub>2</sub>O were operated at elevated temperatures and elevated pressures. Properties of the products were characterized and the reaction kinetics was tentatively investigated. The results demonstrated that the oxidation of 2, 2, 4-trimethylpentane by MgSO<sub>4</sub> occurs above 425 °C to produce a series of organic sulfur compounds, including mercaptans, sulfoethers and thiophenes. The calculated activation energy of the reaction between 2, 2, 4-trimethylpentane and MgSO<sub>4</sub> is 50.236 kJ/mol.</p>}, number={2}, journal={International Journal of Petroleum Technology}, author={Kangle Ding and Dongwei Gao and Yue Luo and Xiuyin Xie and Huan Yang}, year={2015}, month={Jan.}, pages={37–40} }
